Hi, Moh's picks allow you to test the hardness of a mineral. This is helpful for identifying and ruling out possible minerals. They look a bit like pencils with a tip that is made of a particular hardness material. If the pick is able to scratch the surface of the mineral you are testing then you know the pick is a higher Moh's hardness than the mineral. Likewise if it doesn't scratch it then you know it's a lower Moh's value than the mineral. Once you know which Moh's pick number matches your mineral you can pop that value in to the Crystal Guide search or ID feature to bring up candidates.
