I'm not sure when or where I acquired this crystal but it is a solid piece and I love it. The colors are banded similar to an agate: purple and gold and look smokey brown when blended. It looks like it can be either amitrine or fluorite but I'm not sure.
Hi Prissy, That's a nice specimen. I would say it's ametrine, but a hardness test would quickly determine more conclusively. Ametrine would be 7 mohs while fluorite would be softer at 4 mohs. Do you have a mohs pick set?
Not yet but I will get one soon. Thanks!
Great, do let us know the results
I took it to a local crystal shop and it was identified as a purple and yellow flourite point. Thanks everyone!
