Physical removal is going to be the quickest, but there are some alternatives too. If it's bad then use an algae pad or scraper to clean the glass daily. Check that your filter media is clean too as this often gets missed.
You can tape an old toothbrush to the end of a siphon tube when you do your water changes. Then you can brush and use the siphon to immediately suck it straight out of the tank.
Snails like Nerite snails and Mystery snails can be excellent algae eaters. Also some Amano shrimp and Cherry shrimp will help by grazing on it. You can stock some Siamese algae eaters and Otocinclus catfish which eat algae.
Also check your water parameters are ok and reduce the lighting duration and/or intensity if you are getting regular blooms.
