New updates are coming

Hi all,
Work is currently underway on the next iteration of our framework for our Pocket Edition apps. We'll be moving to Google's Material Design 3 theming, making some small changes, rewriting decade old code and adding some new features and content. It is significant work, so users should expect fewer interim updates than usual in the mean time. But don't worry - we are hard at work and the betas will start rolling out in due course.

Super, can't wait. Great apps. So is material design 3 the same as the material now color palette?

It's the latest iteration of the material UI spec and also works better with our colour theming setup. Some 12+ yr old code is getting overhauled too so we expect some performance and usability improvements across the apps as well.

Exciting, looking forward to the new updates. Hope that dark mode will remain?

Don't worry, the dark theme will still be available. The theming will make more intricate use of shades of the selected palette colours as per MD3/Material Now, but it won't be a drastic shift. I can confirm that we're moving to a bottom navigation menu though.

The new Crystal Guide update is now available to alpha testers for bug hunting. We'll squash anything that comes up in the alpha, then we'll be rolling it out to those who have opted in to our public beta on the Play Store.

Just as an update - the public beta is now available. Those signed up to the beta programme on the play store should see the new update rolling out.

I updated earlier today and the new update is super. The ability to add our own specimens with photos under each crystal profile is a killer feature. The new tags system will come in super handy as well. Thanks for all your hard work

Been playing about with the new tag feature, liking it a lot. Currently converting my hashtags from notes in to the new proper visual tags. Also finding the invert option on the tag search very useful.

Haven't started cataloging my crystals in my specimens bit yet, but I know a lot of people are going to love this. Being able to photograph their individual specimens and input all the data about them is killer

v4 is now rolling out to Indoor Plant Guide Pocket Edition beta testers 👍️ Tropical Fish Guide Pocket Edition will be the next to receive the upgrade treatment.

Tropical Fish Guide Pocket Edition v4.00 is now available to beta testers via the Play Store. If there are no significant problems, production users will see a rollout in the coming weeks.
